Regulation 23 — Safeguarding health, safety and welfare of child
General Safety: 1. A fire assembly point was not clearly identified in the service. Infection Control: 2. Water at the wash hand basins for children in the sanitary accommodation was cold throughout the inspection 3. Facilities for hand drying were inadequate and unsuitable and were an infection control risk. Cloth towels were observed in the children’s sanitary accommodation which were then replaced with toilet roll. Both of these hand drying options are inadequate in an early years’ service. Action submitted by the Registered Provider
Provider's corrective action:
General Safety: 1. A ‘fire assembly point’ sign is now displayed. Metal sign is fixed to the wall outside. Infection Control: 2. Plumber fixed the water in the sanitary accommodation it now meets standard requirements. Staff instructed to monitor temperatures regularly and let registered provider know if temperature changes. 3. Ensure adequate supply of paper towels. Ensure stock of paper towels are ordered on time and not let stock get so low before putting order in. Cloth towels are not used
