Regulation 23 — Safeguarding health, safety and welfare of child
Infection Control: 1. There were no pedal‑operated bins available in one of the children’s bathrooms or in either of the care rooms. Two of the bins were open‑top with no lid, and the third had a lid that required hand contact to dispose of waste. This presented a risk of infection spreading due to the need for direct hand contact when managing waste. Action submitted by the Registered Provider
Provider's corrective action:
Infection Control: 1. The registered provider has purchased three new pedal operated bins and stated that they will only use pedal operated bins in the service going forward
(4) Two staff members working directly with the children did not have an award in Early Childhood Care and Education or a qualification that had been deemed equivalent by the Minister
Provider's corrective action:
Due to unforeseen circumstances (two staff on sick leave) management asked the teachers who care for the school aged children to cover temporarily. The service has applied to Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth (DCEDIY) for these staff members teaching qualifications to be recognised for work in the Early Learning and Care sector. Management are hoping to have an Early Years Educator with a QQI Level 5 in Childcare start as soon as their Garda Vetting is received
Found compliant: Regulation 11, 15, 19, 25, 26, 28.
