Regulation 9 — Management and recruitment
- Two of the references obtained in respect of one staff member from a source other than a past employer were not suitable as the source of the references could not be considered independent or unbiased
- The registered provider did not ensure that a Garda vetting disclosure was obtained for one adult prior to them commencing work in the service. The staff member commenced working in the service on 19 June 2023 and Garda vetting was obtained on 30 June 2023
Provider's corrective action:
- The member of staff has given me new references. Ensure that the source of the references are considered independent
Regulation 23 — Safeguarding health, safety and welfare of child
- General Safety: 1. Garda vetting was available for two staff members. However, these vetting disclosures were not dated within the previous three years in adherence with the Early Years Inspectorate Regulatory Notice ‘EYI- RN12.3 Renewal of Garda Vetting’. Action submitted by the Registered Provider
Provider's corrective action:
- General Safety: 1. We will ensure all staff are garda vetted before commencing work in our service. We will ensure that all staff members garda vetting are re-vetted every three years
