The mat in the Senior Room was moving and curling up when walked on. This was a potential trip and slip hazard. 2. In the Junior Room the cupboard under the sink was unlocked and contained cleaning sprays, floor cleaner, a bottle of bleach and a bottle of sterilizing agent. These were potentially accessible to the children and a health and safety risk - Corrective & Preventive Action General Safety: 1. Grips have been added to all corners of the mat. These grip and stick to both the floor and mat. All staff are aware of the new grips and to ensure that the mat area is monitored to make sure the grips work effectively at all times. As soon as there are any changes to the effectiveness of the grips it is be recorded on our daily risk assessment checklist sheet and for the mat to be removed immediately until resolved. 2. The cleaning products were placed in the cupboard beside it that can lock until the lock was fixed. It was fixed that afternoon and no issues since. Ensure locks are checked when carrying out the morning risk assessment checklist and cupboard to be cleared immediately if there was an issue with the lock until it can be resolved Found compliant: Regulation 9, 11, 19, 20, 22. #### Inspection of 6 February 2025 — Change in Circumstance Full report (PDF, Tusla) No non-compliance recorded in this report. #### Inspection of 7 November 2024 — Inspection Report Full report (PDF, Tusla) ##### Regulation 23 — Safeguarding health, safety and welfare of child - General Safety: 1. Upon the inspectors arrival the main entrance door to the preschool room was not secured to prevent unauthorised access to the premises. It is acknowledged that once brought to the attention of the person in charge, the door was locked. 2. Three of the six blind cords in the preschool room were not adequality secured, therefore posing a risk of injury to a child. 3. The warm water in the children’s sanitary areas was in excess of 43°C. This poses a risk of injury to a child. 4. A spray bottle of cleaning solution in the sanitary area, was stored on a low-level shelf, accessible to the children. This poses a risk of injury to a child. Action submitted by the Registered Provider - General Safety: 1. The keys have been added to a wall hook, high up out of the reach of children. Following the children’s arrival and collection times the door is locked promptly by staff. Checks have been inserted on the updated daily hazard checklist. To note the service will be moving premises soon and propose to fit magnetic locks at the entrance. 2. Hooks have been added to the wall to be able to hook up the cords out of reach of the children. Check inserted on daily hazard checklist. 3. Water temperature has been adjusted and checked with the temperature probe. Water temperature check has been added to the daily hazard checklist to ensure that the water does not exceed 43°C. 4. The antibacterial spray is stored under the counter of the nappy changing area, with a safety lock on the door. The storage box with all the nappy changing equipment including the antibacterial spray is now left in the cupboard.
