Found compliant: Regulation 8, 11, 19, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 29. #### Inspection of 15 January 2024 — Inspection Report Full report (PDF, Tusla) ##### Regulation 10 — Policies, procedures etc. of pre-school service - There was no Nappy Changing procedure available for inspection - A new Nappy Changing policy has been implemented in the service and rolled out to all staff members ##### Regulation 23 — Safeguarding health, safety and welfare of child - Infection Control: On the day of inspection, the follow practices were observed during a nappy change in the sanitary area. 1. A staff member kept their disposable gloves on during the entire nappy changing procedure including returning the child to the care room. 2. A child was allowed to lift the lid of the foot pedal waste bin, with their hand, to dispose of their used paper towel following hand washing. 3. The nappy changing area was not cleaned down between nappy changes. 4. A staff member was observed not to wash their hands at the start of the next nappy changing process. 5. The nappy changing area was not prepared with a new nappy and nappy disposal bag before a new child was brought out for nappy changing, this was carried out when the child was on the nappy changing table. 6. An unused nappy disposal bag was returned to the storage basket following a nappy change before the staff member removed their used disposable gloves. Good nappy changing practices are essential to the prevention and spread of infection in a pre-school service. Action submitted by the Registered Provider - Infection Control: There was a staff meeting to discuss in detail the non-compliances of issues with nappy changing in relation to Infection control.
