#### Inspection of 26 September 2024 — Inspection Report

##### Regulation 19 — Health, welfare and development of child

- (1)(a) One child was observed to have their soother in their mouth from time of arrival at 9.25 am to 10am and another child had their soother in their mouth from time of arrival at 9.25 am to lunch time at 10.45 am. Soothers use limits the opportunity for language development and should only be used as a source of comfort if a child requires them

- The Service is highly experienced and very aware of the importance of encouraging the policy of not bringing soothers to the class or where applicable the early removal of soothers in the class. On the day of inspection, the service was dealing with children who were going through challenges with sleeping through the night and the service were working in co-operation with the parent in regard to the use of soothers. The policy for soothers use is in the class and, staff have an awareness of this policy

##### Regulation 25 — First aid

- (1) On the day of inspection, there was no adult available to the children with valid First Aid Responder training. A sufficient number of adults must be trained with First Aid Responder training and available to children at all times to include cover of breaks, leave and appointments

- (1) One staff member immediately started First Aid Responder training and it was completed on 1 October 2024. The Service have highlighted the expiry date in a visual area to make sure the next application is made before expiry date

##### Regulation 29 — Premises

- (e) The registered providers did not ensure the premises was equipped with an adequate number of wash hand basins for the number of children attending. No. of Wash hand basin’s present No. of Children attending No. of Wash hand basins required 1 22 2

- (e) The service has received permission from the Parish to put in extra sink in bathroom. Parish have contacted their plumber and the service is waiting for confirmation of date for commencement of works for a sink to be installed in the bathroom
