Regulation 23 — Safeguarding health, safety and welfare of child
- There was a large sand box in the outdoor area which the children were observed digging in on the day of inspection. There was no adequate cover available to cover the sand box when not in use by the children. This posed a risk of cats using the sand box as a litter tray. Action submitted by the Registered Provider
Provider's corrective action:
- The service has reviewed their Infection Control policy and considered the importance of covering the outside sandbox. Management will perform regular checks on the sandbox and ensure its covered in the evenings. A large Tarpaulin has been purchased cover for the sand box when not in use by the children
Regulation 25 — First aid
- There was only one staff member trained in a first aid responder course working in the service. This was not sufficent to cover the roster in the service if this staff member was off duty
Provider's corrective action:
- The service has reviewed their first Aid policy to ensure there is always a member of staff on the premises who is trained in a first aid responder course. A further three staff members have been booked to attend a first aid responder course to comply with this requirement
