Inspection of 10 February 2025 — Inspection Report

Immediate action notice. Supporting evidence was received from the registered provider on the 19 March 2025 to address the outstanding non-compliance in Regulation 23. Acknowledgments The inspector wishes to acknowledge the cooperation of the registered provider, deputy person in charge, staff and children who were present on the day of the inspection.

Regulation 23 — Safeguarding health, safety and welfare of child

  • General Safety: 1. The service did not demonstrate compliance with the Early Years Inspectorate Regulatory Notice requiring services to renew Garda vetting every three years as one disclosure was dated more than three years
Provider's corrective action:
  • Corrective & Preventive Action General Safety: 1. In response to the non-compliance the service has responded with the numerous steps they have taken since 1 August 2024 to renew garda vetting for the staff member. The service states that going forward they are aware that the process necessary for completing Garda Clearance, will start within 12 weeks prior of possible expiry of Garda Clearance for staff members

Regulation 29 — Premises

  • : (e)There was one toilet and 2 wash hand basins provided in the sanitary accommodation used by the children using Pod 1 which is inadequate for up to 18 children who use this facility on a daily basis. One toilet is sufficient to meet the toileting needs of 11 toilet trained children. This was found non-compliant at the last inspection of the service on the 30/09/2020
Provider's corrective action:
  • submitted by the Registered Provider CORRECTIVE ACTION (e) A new toilet has been installed. PREVENTIVE ACTION (e) Manager has engaged a new plumber who will facilitate service in a timely fashion. EVIDENCE SUBMITTED Photograph of toilet in bathroom. Summary Comment The actions as stated by the registered provider in the corrective and preventative actions addresses the noncompliance identified

  • : (e) There was 1 toilet serviced by 2 wash hand basins provided in the sanitary accommodation used by the children attending Pod 1. The provision of 1 toilet was sufficient to meet the toileting needs of a maximum of 11 children who were toilet trained and therefore inadequate for the 16 children who used this sanitary accommodation on a daily basis

Summary Comment: The registered provider submitted the following documentary evidence: • A plumber’s report detailing the works completed in the service. • Photograph showing a second toilet installed in the sanitary accommodation used by pod 1. The corrective action submitted by the registered provider has addressed the non- compliance identified on inspection in relation to Regulation 29. The regulatory requirement has been met
