Reference was obtained. 2. Reference has been validated. 3. References and vetting will be obtained in advance of staff member starting in the service. 4. Police vetting obtained from one jurisdiction; a second application is in progress for another jurisdiction. 5. Qualification has been located ##### Regulation 19 — Health, welfare and development of child - While fresh drinking water was provided to the children at snack time, there was no drinks available to the children outside of this time - A large plastic jug with a nozzle for children to pour their own water if they are thirsty has been placed in the playroom down low for easy access ##### Regulation 23 — Safeguarding health, safety and welfare of child - General Safety: Garda vetting was available for one adult. However, this vetting disclosure was not dated within the previous three years in adherence to with the Early Years Inspectorate Regulatory Notice ‘EYI-RN12.3 Renewal of Garda Vetting’. Infection Control: In the children’s sanitary accommodation, an open top bin was used for the disposal of waste. A pedal operated bin is required to prevent the risk of infection. Action submitted by the Registered Provider - General Safety: Garda Vetting has been applied for. Infection Control: Pedal operated bin was purchased ##### Regulation 25 — First aid - In the first aid box, all wound and eye dressings had expiry dates of 2023 - New wound and eye dressing purchased. Regular checks on the contents of the first aid box will be carried out ##### Regulation 29 — Premises - (d) In the children’s sanitary accommodation, three taps were rusted and in need of replacement - A plumber was contacted and the service is awaiting the work being carried out Found compliant: Regulation 11, 28. #### Inspection of 22 September 2023 — Inspection Report Full report (PDF, Tusla) ##### Regulation 9 — Management and recruitment - (d) The vetting disclosure from the National Vetting Bureau on file for one staff member was obtained at a time when they were working in the service on education placement and had not been updated in line with their new role in the service. (a) (b) There were no references on file for two staff members - (d) The vetting has been updated and is now in the staff file. Vetting will be kept up to date as required. (a) (b) The required references have been added to the staff files ##### Regulation 16 — Record in relation to pre-school service - (1) (a) There was no record on file, available for the inspector to view of the qualification and experience of two of the staff members working in the service - (1) (a) Up to date CV’s are on file for all staff. The service will keep on top of all staff files make sure files are up to date ##### Regulation 23 — Safeguarding health, safety and welfare of child - General Safety: 1. When reviewed by the inspector at 11.00am it was noted that there were 14 children signed in on the register attending the room, however there were 15 children present at the time. An inaccurate record of attendance including arrival and departure time for each child poses a risk that a child may go unnoticed in the event of an emergency evacuation. 2. There was a pest control box in the lobby area and another in the office area which were on ground level and accessible to children posing a potential risk. Action submitted by the Registered Provider - General Safety: 1. One member of staff will be responsible for signing children in and out. A head count will be carried out by another member of staff to make sure all children are accounted for and the book will be double checked. 2. All pest control boxes have been removed from children’s reach and placed at adult level ##### Regulation 25 — First aid - (2) (a) (b) The first aid box available for use with children did not contain the following required items: Sterile eye pads, water based burns dressings and a pocket face mask - (2) (a) (b) The items have been added to first aid box.
