Regulation 23 — Safeguarding health, safety and welfare of child

  • General Safety: Two children were observed to have popcorn for their lunch presenting a potential choking hazard to a child. Infection Control: Children’s hands were not routinely washed. Children were not brought to wash their hands before eating meals and snacks. This presented an infection control risk. Action submitted by the Registered Provider
Provider's corrective action:
  • General Safety: The registered provider sent a text to all parents reminding them that popcorn is not allowed as a snack for preschool children. To prevent re-occurrence the service has put a note in the enrolment forms under the healthy eating policy.
