##### Regulation 9 — Management and recruitment

- (a)(b) There were no references from one person’s past employers, and in particular no reference from the adults most recent employer. There were no references from reputable sources in the case of a person who has no past employers on file for one adult reviewed

- (2)(a)(b) The registered provider submitted updated written and validated references to the inspectorate. The registered provider will ensure that all references are on file for all adults working in the service. The registered provider will ensure that relief staff and emergency cover staff have up to date references on file

##### Regulation 23 — Safeguarding health, safety and welfare of child

- General Safety: 1. Garda vetting was available for three adults. However, the vetting disclosures for one adult was not dated within the previous three years in adherence to with the Early Years Inspectorate Regulatory Notice ‘EYI-RN12.3 Renewal of Garda Vetting’. 2. Adults were observed to use non-lidded cups with hot liquid in the vicinity of children, posing a risk of scalding to a child if spilled. 3. Grapes in children’s lunch boxes were observed to be whole. Grapes are to be cut in half to reduce the risk of the child choking. Action submitted by the Registered Provider

- General Safety: 1. Garda vetting has been renewed. Garda vetting will be checked every year to make sure they are up to date for both staff and emergency cover. 2. Flask thermos, cold to the touch cups have been bought. The two newly purchased flasks for staff will be on the premises at all times. 3. Letter to parents requesting grapes to be cut lengthways issued again. Within the Parents Policy pack, under Healthy Lunches section, it states grapes are to be cut lengthways. This warning will be HIGHLIGHTED in the policy pack

##### Regulation 25 — First aid

- (a) A suitably equipped labelled first aid box was stored in the kitchen area, however on inspection several items had expired

- (a) Items purchased for First Aid Box and a checklist drawn up for the manager to update every 6 months
