Regulation 23 — Safeguarding health, safety and welfare of child

  • General safety: The Garda vetting disclosures available for three of the adults who worked at the service, were not dated within the previous three years, in adherence to the Early Years Inspectorate Regulatory Notice, ‘EYI-RN12.3 Renewal of Garda Vetting’. Action submitted by the Registered Provider
Provider's corrective action:
  • The written reply from the registered provider stated that Garda vetting has been applied for, in respect of the three staff whose vetting was out of date. As a preventive measure, a reminder has been added to the service’s calendar for September 2028

Regulation 9 — Management and recruitment

  • (a) Records of validation were unavailable for the two past employer references that were held in respect of one adult
Provider's corrective action:
  • The person in charge responded to state that the references had been checked but not recorded. The reference verification forms have now been completed. Going forward, all references will be checked with a phone call and a reference verification form will be completed and signed by the manager

Regulation 23 — Safeguarding health, safety and welfare of child

  • Infection Control: Warm running water was unavailable at the four wash hand basins in the children’s sanitary facility and at one of the two wash hand basins in the staff sanitary facility. Temperature readings ranged between 10.50C and 11.60C. Cold water temperatures may impede effective handwashing. Action submitted by the Registered Provider
Provider's corrective action:
  • The response received outlined that staff have been reminded to turn on the hot water switch, when they arrive at the service. In addition, the tap covers in the staff sanitary facility have been switched to the correct taps. Going forward, the manager will check that the hot water switch has been turned on
